Potential Candidate,
For many fraternities, once a member graduates from college, his active involvement in the daily affairs of the fraternity ceases. While these men form strong bonds with each other while in college, once they graduate their focus shifts to other activities such as family, work, and leisure pursuits. This is understandable and quite normal.
However, for Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., and indeed all Greek-lettered organizations in the National Pan-Hellenic Council, active participation in the fraternity is a lifelong endeavor and does not end when our members graduate from college. Like members of other fraternities, when our members graduate from college, their focus shifts to God, family, friends, work, community services, and leisure activities. The main difference is that men of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. continue an active role in the bond in support of, rather than in lieu of, these activities and values. The same bond that we formed in college continues throughout our lifetime with an emphasis on giving back to the community and mentoring young men who are just starting their life’s journey.
Another major distinguishing attribute of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. is that men can seek membership into our fraternity through one of our alumni chapters well after they have graduated from college. If a well-qualified man who did not join a fraternity in college wants to join the fraternity through one of our alumni chapters, he may seek membership and potentially become a member.
It is said that no matter how great the brotherhood, the survival of the fraternity depends on having men to do the job. In order to have enough men to conduct a successful mentoring program, actively perform community services, implement quality social programs, and meet the financial and organizational needs of each chapter, there must be a strong membership recruitment program that is second only to our reclamation efforts.
To this end, we welcome like-minded men whose life’s goals resonate with the tenants of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. If this describes you, we encourage you to find out about our Membership Training Academy (i.e., our recruitment and training intake process).
Not all men who seek membership into our grand and noble Fraternity are granted membership; however, the first step is to contact us via the form on this page and find out what is required to join one of the world’s finest fraternal organizations in existence.
Respectfully,
Dr. Derek Blythe, Ph.D
